Anti-corrosion coatings - characteristics

Corrosion can destroy even the most complex metal structures in a short time. For this reason, it is so important to prevent it effectively. One of the most popular solutions are modern anti-corrosion paints, commonly used in construction and industry.

Professional anti-corrosion coatings combine the properties of primers, undercoats and topcoats. They protect against the formation, but also the spread and recurrence of corrosion. An additional advantage of anti-corrosion coating is resistance to sunlight, so they can be used even in intensely sunny places. Modern anti-corrosion coating does not contain harmful substances such as lead, so it can be safely used in construction and industry.

Anti-corrosion coating can last from several to several dozen years, depending on the type and properties. Anti-corrosion products available in Carboline Polska are distinguished by the highest degree of protection, but also durability and good adhesion to the painted surface.

What are the types of anti-corrosion coatings?

The available anti-corrosion coatings can be divided into several types, depending on the most important component.

  • alkyd anti-corrosion coatings with alkyd resins in the composition, which determine the hardness and resistance to damage,

  • acrylic anti-corrosion coatings with acrylic resins, they can also be used to cover surfaces where there is already rust,

  • anti-corrosion epoxy coatings, made of epoxy resin and hardener, thanks to which they create a very hard coating. They are used for painting steel or aluminum,

  • anti-corrosion silicone coatings used to cover car parts,

  • anti-corrosion polyvinyl coatings, often used to protect roofs, gutters or window sills,

  • anti-corrosion polyurethane coatings used in the production of electric cables, but also bridges and pipelines,

  • heat-resistant anti-corrosion coatings for use in conditions where the temperature exceeds several hundred degrees Celsius.

While anti-corrosion coatings are generally used to protect metals against rust, they are also used for decorative purposes. With their help, old metal products can also be renewed. Anti-corrosion coatings are used both in industry and in everyday life, for example, to protect steel fences.
